Our Experience

- Your support & contributions enable us to meet the most pressing, basic, human needs of the homeless in our growing US tent cities. 

 - In June 2023, our group of young research scientists realized that the Summer of 2023 would face a unprecedented, possibly month-long lethal heatwave. 

- We immediately organized to collect, assemble and deliver our Pueri Hominum Health, Hygiene and Heat Care kits.  

- On November 11th, 2023, Veterans' Day, one of our new volunteers, SriVarun Vungutur,  Life Scout, led a rapid action with the help of his scout troop and Scoutmaster Chuck Macgrath and our volunteer team, Collection, Assembly, and Distribution of 100 Heat, Health, and Hygiene Kits in downtown Phoenix, in the homeless tent city called 'the Zone'

 Having ready made kits helps the US Border Patrol, police, DHS, cities & communities  improve conditions at the border, for the exhausted agents &  population and for the exhausted refugees, in our country & streets.

• Your donation either in kind - for the supplies in our kits, - or in funds helps give a start to immigrants as they wait for weeks or months for appointments  or for  processing at USBP, DHS or immigration facilities. 
• The need is acute for unaccompanied minor  children separated from parents, who often languish in such faclities.
• Surplus/ extras supplies are given to homeless shelter, transit centers for children in foster care and/or the Salvation Army.

- We also help homeless immigrants, and refugees.  

- Children of Men without homes are presently suffering and dying in our streets, under tarps, umbrellas, torn & burnt tents. 

- We were able to deliver personally every Sunday hundreds of water bottles, sweet & salty snacks, sunhat, clean socks, refreshing wipes and hygiene supplies  for 10 weeks in the 'Zone', a tent city of several thousands unhoused people in downtown Phoenix. 

- We were able to meet with hundreds of unhoused people, and talk to them and ask about their needs. Besides water, they were most grateful to get electrolytes such as salty snacks and especially Emergen-C electrolytes packs.

-  We were ourselves very  grateful we were able to foresee the unusual duration of this historic heat through our STEM training, and to be able to undertake a rapid action within days in June 2023. During July and August, our hometown of  Phoenix experienced  57 days  - with 53 in a ROW -  at more than 110F (43 °).

- Most notably, by July 31st, 2023, our downtown Phoenix has seen more than 5 days in row above 115F (45 °C)  ... during a a 31 DAYS  stretch of temperatures about 110 F (43°C).

NOTE: These were the temperatures in the shade. On the streets of Phoenix, the asphalt reached 165 F (80°C) and MELTED our SHOES (see our blog below)

 ... While we could barely handle such radiated heat spending just a few hours with the unhoused, many of them were subjected to such heat 24/7 and clearly utterly exhausted, almost dazed  and dehydrated.
